Hollie Davies works with an ‘in the moment’ style, exploring the world with here film camera she favours the taking of snapshot photographs. Throughout her work you will see a running theme of love, feminism and adolescence.

 

Interested in film photography Hollie took the opportunities provided to her at university to experiment with many different cameras; making use of 35mm SLR’s, medium format, and even a range of DSLR’s. This is something that she believes to have really assisted in the identification of her preferred personal practice. Film photography for Hollie provides an excitement and thrill, especially when she goes through the process of development.

 

Hollie has found inspiration from artists such as Cass Bird, Petra Collins, and Juno Calypso. She notes that their work on feminism is the real motivation behind her own creative work, something that provides her visuals with the ability to become just as powerful and gripping as their own.
